Sreelakshmi Suresh, the youngest web designer girl of the world is the winner of NATONAL CHILD AWARD FOR EXCEPTIONAL ACHIEVEMENT -2008, an award insitituted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development , Govt. of India.

She is the only child who has been selected for this Award from Kerala for the year 2008. UPA chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi presented this Award on 5th February, 2009 in a solemn function held at the Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Computer Engineer Age 11

Yes, this little master is from Kerala. The title of a 'Computer Engineer' was earned by Rajat Mendus an 11 year old boy who is just a 6th standard student at Excelshire English School Kottayam.

At an age when most of the children go crazy after computer games and all that stuff, Rajat's passion was for Linux networking and open source technologies. The young boy came to know about open source technology from tech magazines and from the internet. Once he was into it, his crave to learn more got ignited. His parents, Dr.mendus Jacob and Mrs. Benila Mendus supported their son's wish and permitted him to join classes to learn computer networking and open source.

Realizing the exceptional aptitude of the child his teachers at IPSR, the institution where Rajat Joined to learn Red Hat Linux compelled him to write the prestigious RHCE exam (Red Hat Certified Engineer) which he did and came out with flying colours. He got a score of 94% and became the worlds youngest Red Hat Certified Engineer.

The RHCE certification is an advanced IT Certification taken by IT professionals after completing their MCA / B.Tech. The certification is also valid worldwide. Rajat's teachers at IPSR are also excited as the global passrate for RHCE exam is just 48%. Ask him what his next goal is and guess what he says? RHCSS, of course the advanced Security level certification in Linux.

Aloysian Conclave 2009

The ALOYSIAN CONCLAVE 2009 was held on 4th Jan 2009 at 10.30 a.m. in the Eric Mathias Hall of the IT Centre of St Aloysius College to honour five of the Eminent Aloysian Alumni of the College. Dr. K V Rao, eminent scientist from the Royal Institute of Science, Stockholm Sweden, Mr Y Abdulla Kunhi, Chancellor, Yenepoya University, Mangalore, Justice Santhosh Hegde, Lokayuktha, Karnataka, Mr Aubrey D'Souza, philanthropist and Dr Devi Shetty, eminent cardiologist and Chairman, Narayanahrudayalaya, Bangalore. Due to unforeseen reasons Dr Shetty could not be present for the function and his brother Dr Shetty accepted the award on behalf of his brother.
Dr Derek Lobo, Chairman of the organizing committee welcomed the gathering. Fr Francis Serrao SJ, Rector, felicitated the award winners. Each of the awardees was honoured with a citation, shawl and a trophy. The formal awards function followed by the Annual Aloysian Lecture delivered by Dr K V Rao, who has worked in the field of NANOTECHNOLOGY in Sweden.He talked about the growth and the benefits of nanotechonlogy in our day to day lives. Fr Denzil Lobo SJ proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme was organized by the Management of St Aloysius College along with Aloysian Partners International (API) and SACAA, Mangalore. The function was followed by lunch hosted by SACAA, Mangalore.
